30 years is a long time in the life of a human yet little is written about this time frame,l wonder why?
i'm hearing rumours of huge changes within the berkshire circuit here in the uk .
congregations being dispanded and kingdom halls closing down and being sold off.... official announcements within the next month apparently .
does anyone else have anymore info?.
hi DBtT---welcome to the site.
an interesting opening post---i'm sure all of us fellow UK ex's will be keenly interested in this.
so i attended a fairly large jw gathering last night with my active, elder husband.
it was a good-by party for a former special pioneer couple who have been demoted to reg pios and have now moved to a larger city to find work.
anyway, there was music and skits.
my name is christian and my wife is katja, and we have been out of the organization for a year and a half.
we were both regular pioneers and i was a ministerial servant.
we were very much happy to be witnesses and doing our best to do more for the organization.
hi--welcome to the rest of your life ! no big A fears here !
a link to the youtube vids please.
it is a challenge coming to terms with your experience as a jehovah's witness.
if you were born and raised as a jw, and your parents were true believers, the impact on your life is profound, lasting, and largely negative.
in some cases quite abusive emotionally, spiritually, financially, educationally and yes, even sexually.. i recently watched "trumbo", and was quite moved by dalton trumbo's speech to the screen writers guild in 1970. here is an excerpt that i think is quite relevant to this topic:.
almost a year ago i moved back to the dallas - fort worth area after spending 16 years in the northern california area.
the area i live in has several nearby parks and walkways and these areas have several "share a book" pods mounted on a pole spaced about 1/2 mile from one another.
people are encouraged to add books they no longer use to these pods and to take one if they are interested.. i have been diligent on removing watchtower publications from them and what has surprised me is how many old publications in pristine condition are added almost on a daily basis.
when i cleared out my fathers house--there were magazines everywhere--packed in empty cereal boxes. dating back to the early 60's. 1000's of the things. in the garage. in the kitchen cupboards. under the beds. in wardrobes. took several car trips to the tip.
i never want to see a jw rag mag or book ever again.
i heard that the memorial will stop after the last anointed have passed away ... is this information true/false?
just curious.
it's secondhand.
my son says hey mom that's your doorbell.
so answer it.
next i get, mom it is the jehovah witnesses.
wow this is interesting!
i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.
